EMERGENCY services were called after a car crashed into a tree on Tuesday evening (May 21).

A Honda Jazz collided into a tree on Warrington Road, Bold Heath between junctions with Twyford Lane and Mill Lane at around 6.45pm.

The driver, a woman in her 50s, was taken to hospital for "a check up", say police with her injuries described as "slight".

A road closure was in place for around two hours as emergency services dealt with the incident.

A Merseyside Police spokesman said: "There was a report of a car in collision with a tree.

"Ambulance attended and the driver was taken to hospital.

"The road was reopened at about 8.50pm."
