POLICE are investigating after reports a man suffered a facial injury after being assaulted at a St Helens town centre bar in the early hours.
Officers were called shortly before 12.40am on Monday following allegations that a man had been attacked in the toilets at Dream Bar on Westfield Street, St Helens.
The man is believed to have sustained a cut to the face but declined emergency medical treatment, say police.
A force spokesman said: "We are appealing for information following reports of an assault in St Helens town centre in the early hours of this morning (Monday 6 May 2019).
"Enquiries into the incident are ongoing and police are appealing for witnesses to come forward.
"CCTV opportunities are also being explored."
