IN response to last week’s story about the family who told about their experience of bringing up a son with autism.

I have autism, learning difficulties and limited social skills. Life sure feels complicated and people are quick to notice why I am “quiet”, believing that I avoid social situations and that they can even take advantage of the unconditional kindness I offer.

It breaks my heart and makes me wonder how people even live like that and why. I also have depression, OCD and possible social anxiety due to past experiences with people.

These people fail to realise our struggles and pain when something happens.

Unaware that their actions, words and behaviour can alter how we feel not just towards people in general, but about ourselves too.

There are good people out there and people with similar stories to tell.

Find them, because they are treasures to keep and the only people you will ever want to count on for guidance, having ears to listen and more importantly, to call you their friend no matter what.

Also do what you love, for I recently got into photography.

Put your heart and soul into your new passion and you can turn it into something big and to be proud of.
