A FIRE broke out at a village pub on Monday evening.

The blaze started at the Colliers Arms on Pimbo Road, Kings Moss at about 6.20pm.

Four fire engines - two from Merseyside and two from Lancashire - tackled the fire, as well as a combined platform ladders.

The fire involved the first floor and the roof of the property.

A Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service statement read: "Four firefighters wearing breathing apparatus entered the property and used two hose reel jets to extinguish the fire.

"Crews inspected the roof space for hotspots, with a team of firefighters from Lancashire damping down."

Firefighters put out the blaze shortly after 8pm.

Footage posted on social media showed smoke coming from the pub’s roof.

A Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson clarified that the blaze had started in the living accommodation on the first floor, which has been damaged.

The cause of the fire is believed to be accidental, added the spokesperson.

There were no reports of anyone being injured.
