ARTISTIC talent has taken over St Helens...or it's about to, as former Britain's Got Talent semi finalists MD Productions land in our town centre with the aim of encouraging more creativity across the borough.

MD Productions was established in 2001, by Miguel Doforo and as well as reaching the semi final of BGT, the creative company has also provided entertainment at the F1 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix 2016 and 2017.

Now, after building strong connections in Rainford, they have moved their Liverpool base to Claughton Street, St Helens where they are offering community based workshops for all ages, education and qualifications in creative avenues and performance opportunities to children and adults.

The first strand of this is Blank Canvas, a not-for-profit arm which organises community workshops for children and adults. This includes dance, performing arts, hair dressing, make up, DJing, music, event planning, costume design, art work and more.

They also offer MD training academy which includes a variety of classes in creative avenues that can lead to accredited qualifications and MD Commercial which puts together performances for worldwide stages and events.

Creative director Miguel Doforo, said: "This town has so much to offer but we felt that what we could offer is another place for people of all ages to learn differently and use creativity as a tool to engage and inspire people of all ages.

"So far we have had more than 120 people and families taking part and all of them are saying that there is very little for younger people to do in the borough, so we want to change that.

"Everyone learns differently, and creativity is such a positive thing that can have a massive impact on a person's life, through a hobby or a career.

"It's about giving people a voice and a way to express themselves and just have fun.

"A lot of them felt like there is parts of the town not available to them, that's just not the case.

"That's why we've been doing live dances on the steps of St Helens Town Hall or in the squares, because this is our town, young and older people can all use it."

MD Productions have several initiatives in the pipeline including St Helens Next Generation, where young adults will be given a platform to say what they think about St Helens and what they have to say; Decades of Dreams, a performance to celebrate the 10th anniversary of The Dream at Sutton Manor and much more.
