DELEGATES from the New Zealand tourist board visited Manchester travel agents to showcase the country’s attractions.
The theme of the visit was Manaakitanga — a Maori concept which describes the warm and welcoming New Zealand hospitality.
Altrincham travel agent Ken Garrity was greeted by Marc Mulcahy, head of Tourism New Zealand, with a traditional Maori “hongi” welcome which involves pressing noses together.
In a show of unity, agents and representatives sang a Maori love song to pay respects to those who lost their lives in the Christchurch attacks.
