AROUND 40 people turned out for a community litter pick in Sankey Valley with the Newton and Earlestown Community Group and the park ranger service.
They cleared up around 30 to 40 bags of rubbish including old push bikes, tyres, trolleys and a scooter.
The next organised litter pick will be Sunday, April 7 at midday in Naylors Wood just off Park Road North with parking available opposite Mesnes Park.
Newton ward councillor and vice chair of the NECG Seve Gomez-Aspron said: βItβs great when over 40 people turn out to take pride in their surroundings.
"Litter picking is never glamorous, but the sheer amount we collected in Sankey Valley will now improve the environment and protect wildlife from getting caught in it. We hope you can join us on April 7 opposite Mesnes Park.β
