THE Sefton pub is undergoing a £200,000 transformation.

The venue on Baldwin Street, St Helens closed a few weeks ago as workmen began the major revamp.

Bosses say the refit will see the return of the dancefloor and increased areas to watch sports. Pub-goers will be able to book "spacious" booths where they can watch sporting action on HD screens.

The new-look pub will re-open on Saturday, April 13.

The makeover represents the latest investment in St Helens town centre's social scene following the opening of new restaurants The Dean and Cork & Dough, and refurbishments of the Royal Tavern and The Duke of Cambridge.

General manager, Matt Williams, and his team will be celebrating with an opening party on Thursday, April 18, alongside Mayor of St Helens, Cllr Pat Ireland.

The first 100 customers will be welcomed with a free glass of fizz and samples from the new menu.

Matt, who is taking on seven new staff, said: “We are thrilled to relaunch The Sefton to the people of St Helens.

"The considerable investment means that the new interior looks amazing and we have great plans to deliver a fantastic customer experience and make a positive difference to the local community.

"We have a broad selection of well-priced food and drink, and we’re really looking forward to welcoming everyone in to enjoy what we have created."

The venue’s licence has also been extended to 3am on Saturdays.

A new cocktail menu will be available and there will be more than 300 different ales. An updated menu including vegetarian and vegan meals will be launched.

The pub will also be open from 8am, serving breakfasts and coffee.
