ST HELENS paid tribute to Violet-Grace Youens today on the second anniversary of her death.
The Steve Prescott Bridge was bathed in violet light as the town remembered the Eccleston four-year-old who died following a hit-and-run on Prescot Road in March 2017.
Balloons and flowers were also tied to the footbridge in a poignant tribute to the little angel.
At Prescot Road, where the devastating incident happened, floral tributes were placed and a single candle was lit.
A message on one of the tributes read: “Beautiful Violet-Grace.”
On Sunday, a petition calling for Violet’s Law - which demands life sentences for dangerous drivers who kill - surged past the 100,000 mark, meaning it must be considered for a parliamentary debate.
The government vowed 18 months ago to strengthen sentencing powers but progress in pushing the change through has stalled, angering families whose loved ones have been killed by reckless drivers.
