A GOLF course is trialling a new layout which will see players tackle a tiring uphill trek earlier in their round.

Sherdley Park Golf Course is to undergo the change in response to feedback from golfers.

The trial has seen the 13th tee becoming the 1st tee, meaning players take on the challenging walk uphill, dubbed as 'Mount Sherdley' at the beginning of their round.

Last year new management took Sherdley Park golf course on a 150-year lease bringing an end to uncertainty over the site's future.

Green Circle Estates Ltd, which has numerous golf courses including Allerton Manor in Liverpool, have taken over management of the golf course and nearby driving range.

Director of golf at Green Circle Estates Bryan Joelson-Mulhall said: “Since taking over Sherdley Park Golf Course in June 2018 we’ve listened to all feedback and the one thing that is constantly mentioned is the walk up the 13th fairway to the summit of 'Mt Sherdley' as such we’re trialling a new course layout that sees our golfers tackling the walk earlier in their round when they are still fresh.”

Meanwhile, the club is undergoing a multi-million pound refurbishment of the existing clubhouse which is due to open later this year.
