Heavy traffic after crash sees three taken to hospital
TRAFFIC is very heavy between Newton-le-Willows and Winwick today following an accident involving three vehicles on the A49.
Newton Road is currently closed in both directions between Hermitage Green and Hollins Lane.
Police and firefighters were called to the scene shortly before 7am.
One person was already out of their vehicle but two others had to be released by firefighters.
All three were taken to Aintree Hospital.
This is affecting traffic between Newton-le-Willows and Winwick.
Traffic is congested on surrounding routes, especially the A573 Golborne Road.
