POLICE made two arrests after seizing a large quantity of drugs and cash after they searched a car in Billinge.

At around 3.45pm on Friday (March 15), officers spotted a Suzuki Swift car on Oakley Avenue, from which one man was seen running off.

Police searched the car and found cannabis before detaining the driver.

A passenger was also detained and found in possession of a large quantity of cannabis.

A 21-year-old man from Billinge was arrested on suspicion of drug driving and possession with intent to supply cannabis.

An 18-year-old man from Billinge was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply cannabis.

Both men have been released under investigation as enquiries continue.

"Keep coming forward and we'll take this positive action to make Billinge and all our communities safer."
