I HAVE lived near Laffak Road for almost 30 years and the area of the former cafe and shoe shop has deteriorated year on year.

I was pleased to hear it was hopefully to be used for housing rather that than a fast food drive-thru, which was rumoured some years ago.

However, I read in this week’s Star that several residents have objected to possible excessive noise, traffic and the proximity of the housing to the East Lancs. How ridiculous to object to being near the A580.

Those residents objecting to this housing live as close to the East Lancs as you can possibly get!

This land is a prime example of the brownfield sites that other objectors say should be used rather than green belt.

Why are some people so short-sighted to the improvement of their surroundings?

Also, it may increase our chances of a railway station in this area. Now that would be fantastic.
