STAR reader Kevin McGhee is searching for information on his late uncle, Thatto Heath boxer Jimmy.

Kevin is researching his family name but knows very little about his uncle, known as ‘Battling Jimmy McGee’.

Kevin said: “Tracing James McGhee on ancestry has drawn a blank.

I came across a website called Boxinghistory.org.uk and entered Jimmy’s name in the search box, information came up regarding Jimmy’s boxing history."

Kevin says he has been provided information about Jimmy’s fights, venues, opposition and the outcome for each fight his uncle was involved in. 

Kevin added: “Sadly there is no mention of his nickname ‘Battling McGee’ and his name has lost the ‘h’ from it; this could be a spelling mistake or a deliberate attempt to distance himself from family. 

“I would be delighted if any evidence or remembering in any sharp or form, any snippets of news about Battling McGhee, if anyone remembers him and most importantly, what became of Thatto Heath’s boxing son Battling Jimmy.”
