TRIBUTES have been left to a motorcyclist who died in an accident at the St Helens driving test centre.

Emergency services were called to Navigation Road at Pocket Nook, St Helens at around 2pm on Monday.

Police later confirmed a motorbike rider had suffered serious injuries and died.

It is believed the incident happened at the driving test centre car park, with the motorcycle hitting a wall.

Police cordoned off the test centre and the rear of the Victoria House offices on Monday while an investigation took place. 

The area is near the St Helens College Technology Campus. 

Loved ones of the rider have placed floral tributes at the scene.

Three bouquets of flowers were tied to a fence near the test centre.

One showed a picture of the man posing with Everton shirts in the background. A note read: "RIP Big Chris."

St Helens Star:

Police said one vehicle was involved in the tragedy and an investigation is continuing into what happened.

A police statement read: “The incident is reported to have happened at around 2pm (Monday, March 11) when a male motorcyclist collided with a wall.

“Despite the best efforts of first responders, the man was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

"The man has been identified and his next of kin informed."

As the Star went to press the victim's name had not been released.
