IT is game day and unbeaten Saints welcome Leeds Rhinos tonight (7.45pm) for their second home game of the season.

Leeds, who were the first team to beat Saints last year, always raise their game for this one and there have been some compelling battles between the sides over the years.

Although the Rhinos made a shaky start to the 2019 campaign on their enforced travels, they got their first win last Sunday at Salford.

They feature three new NRL recruits – Konrad Hurrell, Tui Lolohea and Trent Merrin.

Saints coach Justin Holbrook said: “I went over and had a look at Leeds on Sunday and they seemed to have hit their straps after being a bit shaky the first few games.

“With new players and a new coach it is going to take them a while to find their feet.

“But they clicked into gear on Sunday and showed what they are capable of.

“For Dave Furner it is hard, he will want to put his own stamp on the team. But they are a side with quality everywhere and they will get better as the year goes on.

“They will be disappointed with last year and their opening two games of this, but they showed at Salford on Sunday what they are capable of.

“We will be preparing for the best on Friday – Leeds always play well against us so it is up to us to make sure we respond.”

Holbrook will select his 17 from: 1. Jonny Lomax, 2. Tommy Makinson, 3. Kevin Naiqama, 4. Mark Percival, 5. Regan Grace, 6. Theo Fages, 7. Danny Richardson, 8. Alex Walmsley, 9. James Roby, 10.
