I UNDERSTAND that M&S are not a charity and are running a business and have had to move to the retail park.

But it’s a bit more complex for the elderly and such.

Humans are creatures of habit and routine and for 82-year-old Ellie, who catches the 10am bus every Thursday, from Eccleston, to buy her milk, loaf and M&S shortbread it’s a massive upheaval.

The thought of going on two bus journeys and somewhere they’ve never been can be quite frightening.

You have a completely different frame of mind when you’re younger and mobile. I think you forget that some people don’t drive, can’t walk or see as well.

I am sure that the store will be a massive success.
