A LOT of criticism is published in the letters page, so I would like to contribute something positive, for a change.

During the recent stormy weather, I noticed a light fitting dangling precariously from a lamppost.

It could have caused serious injury if it fell and hit a pedestrian below.
I telephoned the council to report it to the highways department, and they attended at lightning speed (within 15-20 minutes) to remove it.

As part of my day job, I telephone a lot of different organisations, and experience all varieties of unprofessional service, but the lady I spoke to at the council was very professional and courteous.
