A FREE and confidential walk-in sexual health service has launched targeted at 18 to 24-year-olds in Warrington.

The clinic is available every Thursday between 4pm and 7.30pm at Bath Street Health and Wellbeing Centre in the town centre.

Warrington Centre for Sexual Health is delivered by Bridgewater Community Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust. It offers a range of services such as screenings for sexually transmitted infections as well as non-judgemental advice and support on contraception, pregnancy and abortion.

Karen Griffiths, interim clinical manager at Warrington’s Centre for Sexual Health, said: “Public Health England statistics reveal that more than half of new sexually transmitted infections in Warrington are in young people with gonorrhoea and chlamydia the most commonly diagnosed infections.

"As a result, we want to make it as easy as possible for young people to access our service.

"We already do a lot of work to support under 19s but we wanted to launch a drop-in clinic that just specifically targeted 18 to 24 year olds.

"After launching at the start of January, we have already screened 50 people for sexually transmitted infections in the first five sessions.”
