IN just five weeks restaurant and champagne bar The Dean will open its doors – and its owners are hoping to take the town centre by storm.

The venue is the dream of business owner Eddie Dean from Dentons Green and his wife Victoria Zsigmund Dean who has come out of retirement to make it a reality.

They will officially launch on Wednesday, March 20.

St Helens Star:

Eddie said: "We are really excited to launch The Dean soon and the design of the restaurant is really coming together.

"Since we announced our plans the response has been mostly positive but we hope to change the minds of other people in St Helens who have shown us negativity.

"I decided to launch The Dean here because we used to come to St Helens to have a nice meal and I feel like a range of venues in any town centre is important to boost the area, as we have a lot of the same kinds of venues at the moment.

"When I was growing up St Helens was booming but now it needs help to get to that point again.

St Helens Star:

"That's why it is amazing that new places like Sabroso and the like are popping up which offer diverse kinds of evenings and meals out for people in our town which keep people in St Helens if they fancy a change of venue for good food rather than going elsewhere and we just want to be part of that.

"We need to work together to change the way people view St Helens, we are putting the effort in to add to what we have and we hope people will support that."

The pair already have exciting recruits joining the team and plan to host live entertainment on most nights.

They will impose a smart/smart casual dress code, meaning people will have to leave their trainers at home to have a meal at their new eatery.

Eddie, 47, explained: "I want people who come to The Dean to think, we fancy a lovely meal tonight and are going to get dressed up, it changes your mindset and that's what we want to bring to St Helens."
