THE case against Leighton Holt – who faces charges of possessing a sawn off shotgun – has been adjourned until next month.

Holt, of Custley Hey, Stockbridge Village was due to appear at Liverpool Crown Court via video link from HMP Forest Bank on Tuesday, February 12 , to enter a plea.

However, technical issues meant the video link to the court did not work.

The court was told Holt faced charges of possession of a sawn off shotgun and attempting to possess with intent to supply a Class A drug.

Steven Swift, defending, said he had been able to contact Holt and received instructions from his client.

He said Holt intended to admit count one, the firearms charge, but deny count two, the drugs charge.

Frank Dillon, prosecuting, said those pleas would be acceptable and the Crown Prosecution Service would not proceed with the drugs charge.

Judge Robert Trevor-Jones adjourned the hearing until Friday, March 8, when Holt is expected to appear in court in person and formally enter a plea.

Holt was remanded in custody.
