A WOMAN is taking on 10 challenges this year to mark the 10 year anniversary since her dad died from a brain tumour.

Laura Waring from Newton-le-Willows has been raising funds for the Brain Tumour Charity to thank them for the help they offered her family and her dad Paul Waring since he died in 2010.

However, to mark the 10th anniversary of his death on February 6 2020, Laura is taking on 10 events this year, working her way up to a skydive on the anniversary date.

The 27-year-old, who became an assistant clinical psychologist after being inspired by the help she and her family received after losing her dad, said: “When we lost dad nine years ago to cancerous brain tumours our family changed forever.

“To remember him in a nice way ahead of his tenth anniversary we wanted to take on 10 challenges to raise money for The Brain Tumour Charity who are looking for a cure for brain tumours and offer support to people like us who have lost someone to a tumour.”

Laura will joined by her brothers, mum and friends on some of the events, before finishing the challenge with a skydive on the 10th anniversary of her dad’s death, February 6, 2020.

She added: “Each challenge represents a year without him and is our way of celebrating him while helping others.

“It would be great to raise at least £1,000 for the charity who helped him and us so much.”

The challenges are: The Manchester 10k, Muddy Obstacle Challenge, Colour Run, Snowdon Climb, Twilight Walk, Colour Obstacle Rush, Adventure Dock Liverpool, Santa Dash, Zip World Zip Line and the Sky Dive on the 10th anniversary of her dad’s death on February, 6 2020.
