FIFTY homeless people and rough sleepers enjoyed a delicious five course meal for free at Indian restaurant The Pink Pearl.

The venue in Newton-le-Willows, regularly host events such as this to give back to society, with their latest meal on January 21 feeding 50 service users at The Hope Centre for free.

The meal included poppadoms and chutnies; a special mix starter; four different curries between four on each table; rice; naan bread; chips and cake

There was also free drinks including Coke, Diet Coke, Lemonade and Mineral Water.

Pink Pearl co-owner Imran Choudhury, said: "Treating people in need is part of our ongoing charity work as a small business, who are trying to giveback to the society as much as we can.

"This is the least we can do and we feel privileged for being able to treat the people who are struggling.

"We request that other local businesses play their part, and if anyone or any organisation or business wish to work with us, we will be happy to work together for any good cause.

"We have more plans for future but we are keeping the details secret for now.

"Helping people in need and doing charity work is my passion which I have been doing from the very young age and this makes me feel very satisfied as a person."

Their previous event saw 50 armed forces veterans sitting down to a meal and sharing stories for free to mark Remembrance Sunday.
