EIGHTIES pop band T’Pau will headline the 2019 Rainford Picnic in the Park.

The event, at Jubilee Playing fields in Rainford, will take place on Saturday, June 1 and aim to build on the success of previous events in 2017 and 2018.

Pop-anthem band T’Pau – known for hits such China in Your Hand – formed in 1986 led by vocalist Carol Decker and enjoyed success through the late eighties and early 90s before breaking up.

But in 1998, Decker revived T’Pau with a new line-up, releasing the album Red. And they have continued to tour worldwide over the past two decades.

Organisers of the family event have also released names of other acts that feature in a diverse line-up.

They include Ultra 90s Fresh, a dance anthem production show that features hits from the nineties.

Also on the bill are Chasing Crows, a four piece Brit pop covers band from Liverpool playing classic indie anthems from bands such as Oasis, Kasabian, Stone Roses and Blur. Scratch are musicians from Warrington who formed in January 2018. They aim to hype up a stage with acoustic performed dance, funk and pop.

Meanwhile, Mixtape are a group of accomplished musicians and vocalists deliver a high energy, fully costumed stage performance, featuring tracks from the 60s to modern day.

And Liverpool-band the Shakers are expected to be a big hit as they perform the hits, misses, B-sides and lost classics from the golden age of Merseybeat.

Money raised will benefit local clubs including Rainford Rangers, Rainford Cricket Club, Rainford Tennis Club and 1st Rainford Boys’ Brigade and Girls’ Association. Tickets for Rainford’s Picnic in the Park are due to go on sale in the coming weeks. For more contact info@rainfordfestival.co.uk
