ST HELENS has been hit by sleet and snow this morning with the town bracing itself for cold temperatures over the next few days.
Sleet and snow has been seen falling over parts of town today (Tuesday).
A Yellow Warning has been issued by the Met Office for the North West, including St Helens, for icy weather between 4pm and 11pm today, and also for tomorrow.
A forecast for today reads: "Blustery showers will bring rain, sleet or snow at times. The snow will mainly be over the hills, although there will be some in low lying areas, especially early on and during the evening. Maximum temperature 5 °C".
It adds: "Further wintry showers tonight will bring more snow to the hills and some to low lying areas. Some clear spells likely too. A widespread frost will form, with icy patches".
