A JURY in a gangland murder trial is set for a fifth day of deliberations having failed to reach verdicts on the killings today, Monday.

The trial of Mark Fellows, from Orford, continued for a 24th day at Liverpool Crown Court but no verdicts on whether he is guilty of the murders of ‘underworld Mr Big’ Paul Massey and ‘mob fixer’ John Kinsella has yet been reached.

Jurors have so far been deliberating for around 22 hours, having first been sent out to consider the charges on Wednesday last week.

Fellows, of Sandy Lane West, Warrington, is accused of gunning down Mr Kinsella as he was walking his dogs near to junction seven of the M62 near to Rainhill in May last year.

The 38-year-old also denies attempting to murder Mr Kinsella’s pregnant partner Wendy Owen, who was shot at during the killing.

Nearly three years prior to the murder, it is alleged that Fellows killed Mr Massey outside his home in Salford with a submachine gun.

Thirty-six-year-old Heywood man Steven Boyle, who allegedly acted as a ‘spotter’ for the killings, also denies two counts of murder and one of attempted murder.

The jury will now resume its deliberations at 9.55am tomorrow, Tuesday.

Mr Massey and Mr Kinsella were associated with a Salford gang known as the A Team, with the latter carrying the former’s coffin at his funeral.

It is claimed that the defendants were part of a splinter faction of the group, with a dispute between both gangs leading to the murders.
