NO FURTHER action is to be taken against a man who was arrested on suspicion of assault after a domestic dispute in Haydock.

Last Saturday (January 5) a 39-year-old man was taken to hospital for treatment of stab wounds after an incident at orchard Court near Clipsley Lane, Haydock.

Police and ambulance crews attended a property at around 1.20pm on to reports of a stabbing.

A 39-year-old man and a 27-year-old woman, who it is believed had been involved in a domestic dispute, were treated by North West Ambulance Service.

Crime Scene Investigators carried out forensic examinations at the scene and house-to-house inquiries were conducted.

The woman, who sustained head injuries, was taken to hospital for treatment and was arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm.

The man, who underwent surgery, had been arrested on suspicion of actual bodily harm in connection to the incident.

Police have confirmed that no further action is to be taken against the man.

A spokesman said: "The man has been released from hospital. He was arrested on suspicion of assault and now has been released with no further action to be taken."

The woman has been bailed pending further enquiries.
