A 37-YEAR-OLD man has been arrested on suspicion of a serious assault after another man suffered facial injuries as violence flared on a roadside.
Police were called at around 3.30pm, on Wednesday, January 9 to reports of an assault close to the Bull and Dog pub on Clock Face Road.
This was initially believed to have been the result of a verbal altercation between occupants of a Ford Fiesta and a Peugeot van.
The victim, a man in his 40s, received serious facial injuries and was taken to hospital for treatment.
An 18-year-old woman, who was on a moped was also reportedly punched, but she was not injured.
Following enquiries, a 37-year-old man from Clock Face was arrested on suspicion of wounding with intent and was taken to a police station for questioning.
He has been released under investigation as enquiries continue.
