"I HOPE the two individuals who caused all this hurt and anger got to watch the show and really see what they’ve done".

Those are the words of Glenn Youens, after ITV's Judge Rinder Crime Stories aired yesterday highlighting the heartbreaking story of the hit-and-run that led to his four-year-old daughter's death.

Yesterday, Wednesday, January 9, the programme, which examines crime stories from across the UK, looked into the death of Violet-Grace Youens who died on Saturday, March 25, after being hit by a stolen Ford Fiesta on Prescot Road. The car was travelling at 80mph in a 30mph zone.

Her grandmother Angela French also suffered life changing injuries.

The programme left many viewers in tears as the heart-wrenching loss was retold to national viewers by Violet's parents Becky and Glenn, from Eccleston, and Detective Chief Inspector Chris Sephton.

It also shared how the driver and passenger of the car, Aidan McAteer and Dean Brennan, ran past Violet's body in their escape, and how Violet's family feel their convictions and the sentencing for those who cause death by dangerous driving, is not long enough.

Taking to Facebook this morning, Thursday, January 10, Glenn, 31, said: "Thank you to everyone for all your incredibly kinds words about the show yesterday, I will reply to them all there’s just so many.

"It wasn’t easy to do or to watch. I’m sure it got the message out that we need tougher sentencing for causing death by dangerous driving!

"I hope the two individuals who caused all this hurt and anger got to watch the show and really see what they’ve done.

"Violet-Grace accomplished so much in her short life time, I just wish she would have been giving the chance for more.
