PRESCOT high street has another exciting new arrival – a Spanish style bar and charcuterie in the former Wool Shop.

Urbano Chiringuito on Eccleston Street is the brainchild of Clare Wilson and Peter Stewart who decided to make their holiday dream into a reality by bringing a touch of Spain to Prescot.

Mum-of-two Clare, 45, said: “We just had the idea while we were on holiday in Ibiza and just wanted to bring that feeling you get on holiday back home.

“I don’t know what it was but this idea just made so much sense for us, I used to work in fashion and Peter worked in construction, we had no history of this kind of thing at all but just went for it.

“I’m so glad we did, the feedback has been amazing already since our soft launch on December 21 and we haven’t stopped since.

“We looked in Liverpool and nothing seems to fit, when we looked in Prescot and saw The Wool Shop available we just knew it was right.”

The venue offers Spanish beverages such as Estrella Galicia and Larios, with sharing boards of cooked meats, cheese and olives available for those wanting nibbles.

Clare added: “Prescot is the place to be right now, and we are made up to be part of it. The area has been screaming out for these kind of venues here for ages, when Shakespeare North is done it’ll be the icing on the cake.”

Urbano Chiringuito is open Thursdays 4pm to 11pm, Fridays 4pm to midnight, Saturdays 2pm to midnight and Sundays 2pm to 11pm.
