A SHOW at the Parr Hall has been cancelled after part of the venue’s ceiling fell in.

The hole was noticed in the roof of the grade two-listed concert hall, which dates back to the late 1800s, this afternoon.

The First Act Showcase – which was due to take place at the Parr Hall tonight, Friday – has been cancelled as a result.

Event organisers were informed of the issue – which has affected the ceiling above the stage – at 3pm this afternoon.

Around 120 children were due to take part in the show, with 350 audience members having been expected to attend.

Warrington Guardian:

Livewire – the AC/DC Show is due to be held at the Parr Hall tomorrow night, Saturday, while the venue will host A Night with Studio 54 Dance Academy on Sunday.

But contractors are now making repairs and it is not expected that any further shows will be cancelled.

A spokesman for Culture Warrington, which operates the Parr Hall, said: “A small amount of loose plaster was noticed on the floor in the Parr Hall.

“Health and safety is always our first priority, and as a result we have made the difficult decision to cancel this evening’s event – a private hire performance.

“Contractors are now making the necessary repairs, and we are not planning to cancel any further events.”

The spokesman later confirmed that the repair work had been completed, adding: “Unfortunately tonight's private hire event had to be cancelled due to necessary, unplanned maintenance work.

”This has now been completed and tomorrow's event will take place as planned.”
