A CARE support worker is spending a night on the streets for the second year in a row in aid of a homeless charity.

Jayson Lomax-Hargreaves, of Gordon Street, Leigh slept outside Leigh Town Hall last December with a group of people to raise funds for the Homeless Support Project (HSP).

The 37-year-old, who found himself on the streets of London in his younger years, will be setting up his sleeping bag again outside the town hall on Thursday, December 20 in aid of the charity.

Dad-of-four Jayson, who helped to raise around £700 for HSP last year, said: "Last year it was cold but rewarding.

"A homeless man joined us and when he had a chat with us about how his life was going he was suffering from some of the things that I went through when I was sleeping rough.

"I think it is very important that we support organisations like HSP who organise things like helping people go to the job centre."

Jayson will be walking around the town centre on the day of his sleep out event to speak to rough sleepers about their experiences and to invite them to the town hall to join him.

He added: "Being on the street is mentally tiring.

"Homeless people feel they are not wanted when they are passed in the street and they need someone to show them a bit of time and that people care for them."

Jayson plans to sleep outside from 10am until around 6.30am the following day and is welcoming anyone to join him, even if it is for a short period of time.
