POLICE have released the name of a pensioner who died in a car crash on the East Lancs.
Shiela Barrett, 70, was a passenger in a blue Vauxhall Agila that was involved in the crash with a VW Tiguan on Thursday evening.
Her death was confirmed after she was taken to hospital.
Police were called to the scene at the East Lancs’ Liverpool-bound carriageway at the junction of Catchdale Moss Lane in St Helens at 5.40pm.
The driver of the Agila and two other passengers were also taken to hospital.
The driver of the VW Tiguan was also treated in hospital for minor injuries.
Roads Policing Sergeant Bryan Watts said: "We are keen to hear from any witnesses to this incident and welcome any information, including home CCTV or dashcam footage, which may assist our enquires."
