NEWTON-LE-WILLOWS has been lit up for Christmas with the traditional lights switch-on.
The day saw a Christmas market held on Newton High Street and a carols service at St Peter's Church.
And the big switch-on took place, with the tree revealed in all its splendour to the large crowds.
After the event, Newton councillor Cllr Seve Gomez-Aspron said: “Thousands of people turned out to watch the tree lighting and enjoy the Christmas Market on Newton High Street.
"Well done to Newton High Street Hub and all the local businesses for their efforts. Thanks to the Kirkfield for free mulled wine around the tree and thank you to the thousands that turned out!"
Meanwhile, on Wednesday (December 12) there will be a free Christmas concert and refreshments at Mesnes Park Rangers' Centre from 6pm.
