THE cause of death of a 13-year-old girl remains "unexplained" after a post-mortem examination was carried out.
Police were called to Sandon Close in Rainhill on Sunday at 11.40am after reports that a 13-year-old girl was taken ill.
The girl was taken to hospital where she was pronounced dead at 1.20am on Monday.
A Merseyside Police spokesman said: "The cause of her death remains unexplained pending forensic analysis and the investigation is ongoing.
"The scene has now been closed and the family is being supported by officers and other partners."
