POLICE say no crimes have been committed after investigating reports of white vans "driving suspiciously" and being linked with abduction attempts.

The GMP Leigh Atherton and Tyldesley Facebook page posted that the force has received a number of reports regarding a white driver "acting in suspicious circumstances" and being involved in "attempts to abduct pedestrians".

But yesterday, Thursday, the police account posted on its page to state that all cases have been investigated.

The post said: "These reports have all been fully investigated and while they were made in good faith, enquiries have established that no crimes were committed, no-one was grabbed and no injuries have been reported.

"We will continue to treat reports of this nature extremely seriously and would urge anyone with any concerns to call police."
