A WOMAN in her 20s who was left fighting for life after being hit by a car is now in a "serious but stable" condition, say police.

The woman was left in a critical condition after the collision which took place in Prescot last week.

At around 5pm last Thursday (November 22), emergency services were called to Kingsway Close to the junction with Fazakerley Road to reports of a collision involving a Ford Fiesta and a woman pedestrian in her 20s.

The woman was taken to hospital with what were described at the time as "critical injuries".

The driver of the car stopped at the scene to assist with enquiries.

Today (Wednesday, November 28) a Merseyside Police spokeswoman said: "The injured woman remains in hospital in a serious but stable condition".

After the incident, Inspector Keith Kellett from Matrix Roads Policing said: "Extensive enquires are ongoing and we are keen to speak to anyone who witnessed this incident or has any information.

"You may live locally and have seen something in person, captured vital evidence on home CCTV or may have been passing the location and have vehicle dashcam. Please check and let us know as soon as you can."
