POLICE are still hunting an armed robber who raided a convenience store in Billinge on Saturday afternoon.

The man, armed with a hammer, entered the Co-op on Main Street shortly after 12.30pm on Saturday, November 17.

He made threats towards staff before making off with a quantity of cash.

Nobody was injured in the incident.

The man is described as being aged around 18 or 19 and 5ft7 with short dark hair and a thin face.

He was wearing a blue quilted jacket, black trousers and a baseball cap.

Police are conduct house-to-house enquiries with an investigation underway.

Detective inspector Craig Turner said: “I would appeal to anyone who was in the vicinity of Main Street this afternoon and saw anyone fitting the description of the male to contact us.

“I would also ask anyone who was in the area who may have captured anything significant on dash cam to get in touch.”
