STAFF and students at Carmel College joined the families of Adam Ellison and Daniel Fox on Friday to take a stand against knife crime.

Adam, 29, was stabbed to death in Prescot town centre in November, 2017 by killers who were on board a large motorbike.

They have yet to be brought to justice.

Daniel Fox, also 29, died after being stabbed in the chest on Westfield Street in September 2016.

The man accused of his murder walked free from court last year after a retrial jury could not reach a decision.

Both families are working towards raising awareness of knife crime - with Daniel's family establishing the #NoMoreKnives campaign.

The Stand By Me song has been adopted by the campaign as a show of strength from the people to say that carrying a knife is not acceptable.

It follows staff at Whiston Hospital, where both men died, singing in support of the campaign last month.

Carmel Principal Mike Hill said: "We are backing the #NoMoreKnives campaign. Across the whole of the country there was a 22 per cent rise in knife crime over this past year more and more young lives end as a result.

“Knife crime affects so many people, families, emergency services and our NHS has to deal with it so we are saying it's time to say no more.

"Here at Carmel College we care deeply about all of our young people and want to do all that we can to keep them safe and help them live life to the full.

"That's why we are adding our voice to those across the St Helens community in joining the campaign #NoMoreKnives."

Adam's mum Joyce Ellison, said: "We need to get this across to all of the people who think it's big to carry knives that it causes death and injuries.

"Knives kill people so I think we need to stick together to get the message across that we will not have this happen anymore.

"No others should die because of knives."

Danny's mum Linda Fox added: "Everyone should get involved in this campaign, it was wonderful to listen to them."

Danny's aunty Dawn Jones, added: "The more involved people across the borough get, then the bigger voice there will be together.

"We are so grateful to be invited by Adam's family."

The college nominated St Helens College, St Cuthbert's Catholic High School and De la Salle Catholic High School to take part.
