A fire which broke out at a house on Friday evening is being treated as "suspicious" by police.
Four fire engines were sent to Bronte Street in St Helens at around 7.25pm where a house was well alight.
Crews used breathing apparatus and high pressure hose reel jets to extinguish the flames and were in attendance for around two hours.
No-one was hurt in the incident.
A Merseyside Police spokesman said: "The fire is being treated as suspicious and enquiries are ongoing."
A cordon was set up at the scene.
