THE plight of the homeless is a difficult discussion to have on social media as points well made get lost...
Yes – there are genuine homeless in the town and there are regular “head counts” that the council run.
Yes – some ‘homeless’ have a tenancy but struggle to maintain it so go back to what they’ve been comfortable with.
Local charities (Hope Centre and Teardrops) work hard to support these guys, local hostels (YMCA & Salvation Army) work wonders.
Family breakdown, debt and addictions are some of the issues faced...
I know this won’t sway people but it is too easy to judge.
Let’s take a moment and remember that these are people who rely on support while they figure out their often difficult future.
