A MOSAIC celebrating St Helens' 150th anniversary has been unveiled at Church Square Shopping Centre.

The shopping centre had welcomed people to upload their pictures to be included in the 'Hashtag Mosaic' which was revealed on Saturday.

The artwork, which was created at the event, explores visitors' memories of St Helens from the last century and a half.

In the run-up to the event a hashtag campaign has been launched providing shoppers with an opportunity to upload their photos to have them included in the mosaic, with the aim of the final image creating a stunning St Helens skyline and which will be a permanent fixture in the centre.

Kid’s club mascot, Shopper Whopper, made an appearance on the day, posing for photographs.

Steve Brogan, Church Square’s centre manager, said: "The Hashtag Mosaic will be a great way to celebrate the amazing memories that have been created in St Helens over the past 150 years and we can’t wait to see the final effect.”
