A MAN was slashed in the face by an attacker armed with a cut throat razor.

The “awful attack” happened in the early hours of this morning, Sunday, November 4, at an address on Prescot Road, St Helens between Boundary Road and Enfield Street.

The victim, aged 43, suffered serious facial injuries.

The attacker knocked on the door shortly before 12.50am before slashing the victim.

Police say the thug had what was described as a silver cut throat razor. 

The victim’s injuries are not life threatening. 

The offender is described as white, around 5ft 10in tall, of slim build wearing a woolly hat with a peak and a facial covering.

Detective Inspector Janet McCann said: “This was an awful attack which has left a man with serious injuries and we are determined to locate the offender responsible and establish the full circumstances.
