A MAN has been arrested on suspicion of murder following the death of a 49-year-old woman in Burtonwood.

Police were called to stables at Old Alder Lane at 10pm yesterday, Friday, after concerns were raised for the welfare of a 49-year-old woman

But police have confirmed the woman died at the scene.

The death is being treated as suspicious and a 50-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder.

DI Adam Waller said: “As part of our enquiries we are keen to speak to any potential witnesses or view any dashcam footage from anyone who had travelled along Alder Lane near to the Fiddle I’th Bag public house or Old Alder Lane in Burtonwood between the hours of 7pm and 10pm.

“The area is quite rural but there is a pub nearby so there is likely to have been some traffic around this time.

“I’d like to reassure residents that we are working tirelessly to establish the circumstances surrounding the death and are providing an increased presence in the area.”
