A FIRE at a boarded up building is being treated as a suspected arson attack, say police.
Officers are appealing for information following the suspected arson at the derelict building in Thatto Heath on Sunday, October 28.
At around 1pm, Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service reported a fire at what is believed to be a former care home on Thatto Heath Road, causing damage.
Police attended and a joint investigation is underway to establish the circumstances
No people were inside the premises at the time.
Detective Chief Inspector Chris Sephton said: "Although nobody was injured in this incident, to start any fire deliberately is extremely reckless and could easily have ended in tragedy, either for those responsible or anyone in the vicinity.
"Do you know who was involved or did you see or hear anything suspicious? If so, please come forward with this information, as well as any home CCTV or dashcam, and we will work closely with MFRS to identify those responsible and put them before the courts, to prevent any similar incidents.
"The next one could cause serious injuries or worse, so do the right thing and tell us what you know."
Anyone who witnessed the incident, saw anyone acting suspiciously nearby, or has any information is asked to contact @MerPolCC, call 101 with reference 18400015249, or contact Crimestoppers UK anonymously on 0800 555 111.
