A TOWN centre MMA gym is set to feature in a 'fly-on-the-wall' documentary on Sky Sports this December.

A film crew is at the North Road gym this week to record the goings-on at the Hamma Academy of Mixed Martial Arts based on North Road for the documentary, which is due to be aired in December.

The crew, commissioned by Sky under the banner of UCLan TV are spending three full days to capture the everyday activity of the gym.

Under head instructor, Sean Martin, the gym has enjoyed great competition success across all age groups by both male and female fighters.

Sean said: "It'll be a fly-on-the-wall show about the gym and they are also trying to get it commissioned for Channel 5.

"They came to me with the idea and said they'd love to do the documentary."

Adam Robson, from the filming crew, said: "With the wealth of talent in this gym and the amount of activity, it is a no-brainer to come here to cover Sean's gym.

"It is a special place, because the fighters that come here stay here and it's because they do more than just get them to hit pads.

And Sean is such a huge character, he is perfect for TV.

"It is a pilot and we are hoping to commission a whole series. We are working with a commissioning editor from Channel 5 as well so we've got high hopes for it."

The show featuring Hamma is scheduled to air in December, with a specific date to be confirmed.
