WORK has begun to transform the former Kellogg’s building on Talbot Road into the new University Academy 92 (UA92) campus.

UA92 is a new higher education institute co-founded by the Class of 92 - Manchester United legends Gary and Phil Neville, Ryan Giggs, Nicky Butt and Paul Scholes - and Lancaster University.

The building will open to students in September 2019.

Gary Neville said: “To see work commence on the UA92 campus is another tremendous step forward. I think it will be a truly inspirational place for students to learn and engage with our partners.”

Workers moved onto the Talbot Road site to begin the process of developing it into a modern learning and teaching space for the new university

On completion the UA92 building will house a range of specialist facilities, developed specifically for modern university learning and teaching.

Leader of Trafford Council, Andrew Western, said: “This ground breaking scheme represents a huge regeneration opportunity for the area.

“UA92 will place Old Trafford at the heart of a new academic centre of excellence while driving investment in the borough for years to come.

“We are confident it will be a catalyst for creating jobs, growing and retaining talent in the borough, whilst building on the thriving community that already exists.

“The academic future looks bright for Old Trafford.”

UA92 will initially offer undergraduate degrees in media, sport, business and psychology, accredited by Lancaster University.
