AFTER losing her aunty to cancer, one woman focussed her attention on spreading positivity by getting her colleagues and friends together to shoot a burlesque themed calendar for Cancer Research UK.

Seven women aged 36 to 50, including staff at A Star recruitment on Claughton Street, joined forces to take part in the shoot at St Helens Theatre Royal after staff member Vicki Thompson to do something positive in memory of her aunty Amelia who died from cancer this year.

More than 500 copies are to be sold with all the money going to Cancer Research.

Vicki, 37, from Haresfinch, said: "When I lost my aunty I decided I wanted to do something to thank Cancer Research for all their support but I wanted it to be something fun and celebrating life and women.

"I got a few girls together and we had a really fun tongue in cheek shoot and we are made up with the results.

"I needed something positive to focus on and doing the Burlesque theme just seemed like a great idea.

"We got a great photographer involved, Mike Shawcross who did it at a reduced cost because we are doing it for charity which was lovely of him.

"I hope everyone supports us and buys a copy."
