A ST HELENS-based business is reportedly aiming to open up to 20 venues in the next three years following the success of its Irish-themed pubs.

Mikhail Hotel & Leisure Group is seeking to expand its Punch Tarmey’s bars, according to the Businessdesk.com.

Andrew Mikhail, the company’s chairman, who owns the Eccleston Arms on Prescot Road and Punch Tarmey’s on Westfield Street, said in an interview with the business website that he is planning further expansion.

The group recently opened its third Punch Tarmey’s venue in Liverpool’s Cains Brewery.

Mr Mikhail, who is currently trekking to Everest Base Camp with the Steve Prescott Foundation, told the website: “Any Irish person that goes into one of our venues always says, ‘this feels like home’, which can only build the brand reputation on solid footing.”

He said his plans for the business centred on delivering high quality venues attract customers who are willing to pay “that little bit more to sit in a higher end outlet”.

Growth plans for Mikhail Hotel & Leisure Group’s Irish pubs could see at least 20 hitting all the big UK cities, according to the reports.
