A MAN in his 20s is still fighting for his life after a car crashed into a tree.

The man was a passenger in a BMW 3 series which collided with a tree in Paddock Lane, near the Rope and Anchor pub, in Dunham Massey.

The fatal crash happened around 12.30am on Sunday, October 7, when a silver BMW left the road, overturned and collided with a tree.

A man in his 20s - believed to be the driver - was pronounced dead at the scene.

A passenger, also a man in his 20s, suffered "multiple extensive injuries". He remains in critical condition and continues to fight for his life in hospital.

Paddock Lane and Dunham Road were cordoned off for more than 12 hours while police investigated the crash.

Sergeant Lee Westhead, from GMP’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: "A young man has lost his life as a result of this collision and another is currently fighting for his own in hospital.

"The families and friends of these men are still coming to terms with what has happened to their loved one.

"Our priority is to support them and provide them with the facts about what has happened.

"I would urge anyone who saw this car on Paddock Lane, or at any point prior to the collision to please contact the investigation team.

"I would also ask anyone with dash-cam footage, or any information which could help us, to please contact us too.”
